COBRA and Cal-COBRA: Your Employee Notice Obligations Explained; Do Your Procedures Comply?
California Employer Advisor Audio Conference
Tuesday, February 7, 2006 10:30 am to 12:00 noon (Pacific Time)
A federal judge recently fined an employer $307,000.
Why? Because the employer didn’t provide a former employee with the proper COBRA notice.
The court assessed the maximum statutory penalty of $110 per day for each beneficiary--the employee and his wife--as well as their actual medical expenses.
And the employer could STILL get hit with attorneys' fees and court costs.
The requirements for the COBRA notifications can be complicated. And as this example shows, the consequences for not giving proper COBRA notice can be steep, including having to pay an employee's uncovered medical bills, attorney's fees, and penalties.
Don't let this happen to you!
Join us on Tuesday, February 7, for a 90-minute audio conference. There's no faster, better way to get up-to-date on COBRA rules – specifically as they apply to employers in California!
