In today's high-stakes, skills-intensive healthcare workplaces, your employees are your # 1 asset. So, nothing causes more headaches for HR professionals in this field than problems with your workers.

You're juggling many confusing rules every day—from applying overtime regulations fairly among employees working shifts and complying fully with federal and state immigration requirements for foreign nurses, to conducting background checks and internal investigations correctly and handling discrimination and harassment complaints properly. And, if you make a mistake (even an innocent one), you could be facing expensive fines and penalties and other legal liabilities that may prove very embarrassing for your organization.

Join us on August 26 for this 90-minute webinar—designed specifically for California employers and HR managers in the healthcare arena—to learn the latest updates on employment law issues and tips you can put into practice immediately. Our speaker will discuss the trends in HR law for hospitals, medical offices, and other companies in the healthcare industry. Plus, you'll have the chance to pose your own questions for a quick answer during the conference.

You And Your Colleagues Will Learn:

  • The most common claims brought against healthcare employers in California courts

  • How to discourage SEIU drives and other healthcare unionizing efforts without violating the law

  • The best ways to conduct background checks and internal investigations in hospitals and other medical workplaces

  • How to manage overtime pay for your employees (including tricky situations such as floating shifts, shift differentials, uniform deductions, meal and rest breaks, and on-call fees)

  • The steps you should take to protect yourself when physicians, nurses, home health aides, and other healthcare workers file discrimination claims

  • How various family, medical, and military leave regulations affect healthcare workers

  • The basic rules for complying with federal and state business immigration rules (e.g., H-1A requirements for foreign RNs)—and how to fix mistakes you've made without increasing your liability

  • How to determine whether shift and weekend supervisors qualify as "managers" under NLRB rules
