Class action wage and hour lawsuits are on the rise. In 2008, the 10 largest class action settlements nationwide totaled more than $250 million. With the growing number of compensation-related claims, California-based labor and employment attorneys have a particularly difficult legal battle given the pro-employee nature of the California Labor Code.
If you're a California attorney looking for informed guidance on this issue, join us on Feb. 12 for an in-depth 90-minute interactive webinar on successful defense strategies that are being used to combat class action wage and hour litigation filed at the state and federal level.
Our expert - a seasoned California labor and employment attorney - will provide practical insight on how to successfully attack wage and hour claims with tried-and-true, as well as emerging, defense tactics. In addition to earning 1.5 hours of California MCLE credit, you'll learn:
- The most common type of class action wage and hour claims being brought in California and at the federal level right now
- Strong defense strategies for state- and federal-based wage and hour claims
- The varying circumstances under which those defenses should be asserted
- How the sexual harassment-based Faragher-Ellerth affirmative defense is being used to defend wage-and-hour claims, and the best practices for asserting it
- The practical implication of the Fourth District Court of Appeal's decision in Chindarah v. Pick Up Stix, Inc. regarding wage releases, and the impact other recently decided cases are having on defense strategies
